Talia & Austin's Winter Aspen Grove Engagement was a lot of fun. It was cold, as it always is in Aspen Grove in the winter, but not as cold as normal. I had to ask the couple to hold there breath for a second or two while I took some of the shots or you would have seen a cloud in front of their faces.
Aspen grove is a great place to take pictures in the winter, summer and fall. But you have to be really careful if you shoot there in the winter, as they do have avalanches. I was nearly caught in one a few years ago while walking on the Stewart Falls trail with some clients on an engagement shoot.
We had just gone around the first bend in the road on the way up the trail when we heard a loud wind sound coming towards us. Suddenly the sky was misted over with snow dust and we could not see our hands in front of our faces for a few minutes until the air cleared again. When we looked back on the trail, an avalanche had taken out the trail about 100 yards behind us. Thank the Lord we were not in that area when it happened!
But today there is not a lot of snow, so we did not have to worry about avalanche's, only the lack of snow on the ground! It has been a very snowless year this year, and has really only snowed once, so finding a winter snow shoot location was difficult.
Still, we were able to get some beautiful shots, and Talia & Austin had a lot of fun joking around and playing in the snow. There even had a snowball fight at the end.
