Savannah & Josh's Spring Bridals at Antelope Island were AMAZING! In my previous post, I had found a new location on Antelope Island that just opened up, but it is a long walk, about 45 minutes once you park. When I told Savannah & Josh about the new location, they were "all in". Unlike the previous couple, they were dressed in their wedding clothes.
But lets start from where I almost got arrested by the Antelope Island park Rangers for flying my drone to get some video shots of the couple...
In addition to photography, I also offer videography. I was frying my drone in a big empty field getting the first look part of the session, when I noticed a park ranger pull up to Josh & Savannah's parents and start talking to them. To his credit, the park ranger did not stop me from filming with my drone until we were done and walking back to the cars to go to the next location.
The Park ranger told me that in order to fly a drone anywhere on the island, I would need to apply for a permit and that a park ranger would have to accompany me wherever I went, and that had there been any buffalo in the field, I could have been into big trouble. Lucky for me, no buffalo. He let me go with a warning.
So, we were off to the next location, along with several family members, and it really was a 45 minute walk south to a large rock sticking out in the water that is usually surrounded by water and that's located in a part of Antelope Island that just opened up a few months ago. But now there was a natural sandbar that gave us access to the rock.
We had to time it just right to get to the rock by near sunset to get the best shots. And what a sunset it was! You can see the video here: https://www.jameserickphotographyutah.com/video
We did not start back until the sun had set, so we walked back in the dark. Savannah & Josh are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. They are kind and fun to be around. This is a photo/video shoot I will never forget!
