Michelle & Gavin's Albion Basin Engagements Turned out way better than I had expected. I know, that's not the way to start a blog, but with the lack of rain this year and snow the year before, I did not think there would be any wildflowers up here, but I was wrong.

A few years ago, due to so many photographers wanting to do photoshoots at Albion Basin, the park services all but shut this area down to photographers by making it to costly to shoot here. I understand why they did it, as hundreds of photographers were here every day in the wildflower season trampling down the flowers, wrecking the scenic beauty of the area. I cam here once during that period and left because I could not find a place to park, and I counted at least 60 photographers that I could see. The place had become to popular. So the park services started charging $300 per photoshoot and you had to get a permit to shoot there.

This year due to the lack of water, there were not of the iconic tall wildflowers growing in the area, but there were lots of tiny purple flowers, and Michelle, Gavin and I were very careful not to trample them down. And whenever they sat down in an area, it did not have wildflowers where they were sitting, I just used creative angles to make it look like they were surrounded with flowers.

So when Michelle asked me to do their pictures at Albion Basin, and it went way better than expected, I had expected to see no wildflowers at all, but there were some after all. Not in the normal area where everybody else goes to take pictures, but up the trail to Cecret lake is where we found the flowers. I hope next year I get a chance to shoot and video a bride and groom session at Cecret Lake as it is one of the most beautiful alpine lakes in Utah. But today, we just walked part way up the trail.

I loved working with Michelle and Gavin. They are both very friendly, nice and fun people. I photographed and videoed their wedding. Here is a link to their wedding video: https://vimeo.com/611092260/65dda9da55
