I did not think Jessica & Max's Sunset Antelope Island Bridals were going to turn out so great. The weather report said it was going to be cloudy. And very windy. And in my neighborhood the bugs had just started to come out. But none of that happened at Antelope Island today. It was sunny, and partially cloudy at sunset. It was warmer but no bugs, and only little windy. It was Perfect.
More and more, I have been bringing my new drone to photoshoots where I can get big scenic pictures from the sky. It wont work in a think forest area or at a national Park because of drone restrictions, but in wide open areas like Antelope Island its perfect.
Last year I brought my drone here and used it to shoot a video first look in an open field in the middle of the Island. After that part of the shoot was done, a park ranger pulled up to us and said that I could not fly a drone on the island. I told him that I had never hear that before, and he said there were signs all over the island. Neither I or my clients or their family could find a single sign anywhere.
This time when I was going through the entrance to Antelope Island, there was a sign that said, "Flying drones on Antelope Island is prohibited unless you have a state parks pass". I have a state parks pass and a causeway pass that I just bought for $120. So does the pass make me a more responsible drone pilot? Just a thought.
Jessica & Max were lots of fun to work with, and I look forward to shooting their wedding.
Anyway, the shoot went great and I used my drone to get some great panoramic shoots, and I can't wait to get more.
