Grace & David's Spring Moab Bride & Groom Session was awesome, but very windy. And when I say windy, I don't mean a gust here and there. I mean that until 20 minutes prior to the sun setting, there was nearly 30 MPH sustained wind. This left a lot of dust in the air and in our eyes. But the wind, sometimes, has its advantages.
So generally speaking, wind is terrible on a photoshoot. But I was not just doing a photoshoot, I was also doing a Bride & Groom video, and wind just added to the beauty of the motion of the video. You can see the video here: https://www.jameserickphotographyutah.com/video
Even though I would prefer a lot less wind, Grace had shorter hair so it did not blow all over her face. And the wind blowing in her vail look so beautiful.
Grace and David are two of my favorite people. When I suggest that we do the session in Moab, Grace said, let me talk it over with David. The next day I got the call, "Lets do it"
I was really concerned about the weather report for that day. It said it was going to be overcast the whole day, right up until the night before we left. The next morning the weather report said mostly clear and 86 degrees. And that's what we got, with the wind, which was great because it was a 4 hour drive to the location in Moab that I chose, and no matter what the weather ended up being, we were going to take pictures and video anyway.
I love the national parks, and I have done sessions in Arches National Park, but both times I was chased around by the park rangers, except for the third time when the bride changed at delicate arch and carried her dress in bag until she was there so that the park rangers could not see it. But this is a big hassle that nobody wants to deal with, so I already had found a beautiful location outside of arches that looked just like Arches in many ways where we did not get chased.
The shoot went perfect, and I cant wait until the next shoot in that area.
