A Timeless Winter Bride and Groom Session at the Utah State Capitol with Alexis & Tyler by Utah Wedding Photographers James Erick Photography Utah

Alexis and Tyler's winter bride and groom session at the iconic Utah State Capitol was nothing short of magical. Captured by the talented James Erick of James Erick Photography Utah, the session showcased a beautiful blend of classic architecture, romantic moments, and the serene beauty of a winter afternoon.

The Perfect Indoor Location

As Alexis and Tyler's wedding day approaches in just a few weeks, finding the right location for their session was crucial. Alexis chose the Utah State Capitol for two main reasons. First, she wanted to keep her stunning wedding dress pristine, avoiding the unpredictability of outdoor settings in winter. Second, the past week had brought hazy skies due to the inversion, making an indoor location with natural light the perfect choice.

The Capitol, with its grand marble interiors and timeless elegance, provided a picture-perfect backdrop. While the building can often be bustling with tourists and congressional meetings, luck was on our side—there were hardly any people around, giving the couple a rare sense of intimacy in such a grand space.

A Session Bathed in Natural Light

We began the session on the second level, where the marble staircase and intricate architectural details offered a stunning setting. The skylights above filled the space with soft, natural light that gave the photos a warm, glowing quality. Alexis’s dress shimmered beautifully in the light, and the way Tyler looked at her was pure love captured in every frame.

From there, we moved to the third level. This area features breathtaking paintings surrounding the Capitol’s rotunda, adding a layer of artistry and history to the photos. With the rotunda as a backdrop, Alexis and Tyler exchanged adoring glances, creating moments that felt straight out of a fairy tale. Their connection was palpable, and it was a privilege to document their love in such a striking setting.

Stepping Outside for Golden Moments

While the Capitol’s interior provided elegant backdrops, we couldn’t resist stepping outside to take advantage of the building’s grand exterior and golden doors. Despite the haze from nearby California wildfires and the inversion, the sky above us was a brilliant shade of blue, contrasting beautifully with the soft, muted tones of the day.

The outdoor shots were some of my favorites. The couple’s joy and affection shone through as they walked hand in hand down the Capitol's steps. Tyler, ever the romantic, picked up Alexis and carried her off into the hazy sunset—a moment so cinematic it felt like a scene from a classic love story.

A Session to Remember

Photographing Alexis and Tyler at the Utah State Capitol was a dream come true. The venue’s timeless elegance, combined with the couple’s undeniable chemistry, created a gallery of images that they’ll treasure forever.

The session is a testament to the magic that can happen when love, light, and location come together in perfect harmony. As a Utah wedding photographer, moments like these remind me why I love what I do—capturing memories that couples will cherish for a lifetime.

To Alexis and Tyler: Thank you for letting me be part of your journey. Your love is inspiring, and I can’t wait to see you both shine on your wedding day!

If you’re looking for a stunning venue for your own wedding or bridal session, the Utah State Capitol is an excellent choice. And if you’re searching for a photographer who will capture your love story with authenticity and artistry, I’d be honored to work with you.
