The Fall Castle Park Bride and Groom Session with Carli & Zach was so beautiful! But as we pulled up to the closed gate with about a hundred do not enter signs, my heart sank. I have shot more than a few photography sessions at the Utah State Hospital Castle Park, but I have never seen it closed before. Yes, there are signs saying private property, but in the summer there are a lot of people there taking pictures and hanging out so I just figured that most people ignored the signs.
When I booked with Zach & Carli, they told me that they had previously booked another photographer, but after they received their engagements back, the pictures were such low resolution that they were unable to print the pictures without them looking grainy. I looked at a few of the image files and found that their photographer had either taken them with a really old camera, or that the photographer had set the resolution way to low. Either way, they were unusable. So they got a refund and then hired me.
When we arrived at the park, I noticed that the gate was closed and locked, so we decided to park our cars and walk up and take a chance anyway. It was almost deserted, and we only saw a couple of people there, which was great for us. We walked up to the top and took a lot of pictures, until we say Carli’s mom come running up and told us I had to move my truck because the police had come. Again, my heart sank. But in the end, I just had to move my truck, not stop shooting.
Carli & Zach were wonderful to work with and photograph. They even seemed to be able to read my mind and would do things before I even asked them to. My favorite shots were at the end when Zach was twirling Carly around in the setting sunlight. Amazing!
