Spring Castle Amphitheater Engagement with Hannah & Ben

Castle Amphitheater Engagement with Hannah & Ben

by Utah Wedding Photographers James Erick Photography Utah

Hannah and Ben asked me to shoot their Castle Amphitheater Engagement in early spring last year, and I was all for it. Even though at that time of year the trees have not received their leaves yet, the castle Amphitheater is still a great place to shoot.

Located behind the old Provo City Hospital, the castle Amphitheater looks like its name...a giant stone castle with an amphitheater on top of it. It is a popular place for photography, but at this time of year, there was hardly anybody there. The most challenging part of this shoot can be the lighting. The sun faces directly towards the castle for most of the year and is very bright for most of the year unless you get lucky enough to get a cloudy day. And you have to do a lot of climbing! Up and down the stone steps we went, all the way to the top where there is a small pond with a dock. Also at the top is an amazing view of the city.

Ben and Hannah were a lot of fun to work with, and they were all smiles from beginning to end. About halfway through the shoot, they did a clothing change and we drove further south to the apple tree groves located on the main rod into the Castle Amphitheater. There were no blossoms on the trees but the groves still look beautiful, especially with Hannah and Ben in them.
